Who we are
Gather (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a community app for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to share reflections, temple visits, and uplifting moments with friends and family. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Gather and how we use, store, and protect it.
Information you provide
- Account info: email address and password (or a third-party sign-in such as Apple or Google).
- Profile details you choose to share: full name, avatar photo, location, ward, stake, and a favorite scripture.
- Content you create: reflections, temple posts, comments, likes, follows, and invitations sent through your invite link.
- Optional device push notification tokens, used only to deliver in-app notifications.
How your data is stored
Gather uses Supabase (a managed, secure backend platform) for storage of your account, profile, and content. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, and access is governed by row-level security policies that ensure other users can only see content you have intentionally made visible to them.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To display your posts, comments, and profile to people you have chosen to share with.
- To send in-app notifications about followers, likes, comments, and replies.
- To improve the app’s reliability, performance, and features.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show third-party advertising inside Gather.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers strictly necessary to operate Gather (for example, Supabase for hosting and authentication). We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users from harm, or to enforce our Terms of Service.
Your rights and choices
- Edit your profile at any time from the Profile tab.
- Delete individual posts, reflections, comments, or follows at any time.
- Permanently delete your account from Profile → ⋯ → Delete Account. This removes your profile, posts, reflections, temple posts, comments, likes, follows, invites, and authentication record. This action cannot be undone.
- Block other users to prevent them from interacting with your content.
Children
Gather is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our live systems immediately; encrypted backups may be retained for a limited period for disaster recovery before being overwritten.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date above and notify you inside the app.
